Planner rules guide

This page summarizes the official Fantasy Premier League rules that matter most when planning transfers, lineups, and chip usage in this app.

Squad structure

  • Your squad has 15 players: 2 goalkeepers, 5 defenders, 5 midfielders, and 3 forwards.
  • You can own at most 3 players from the same real-world club.
  • Your committed gameweek must finish within budget.

Starting XI

  • Your lineup must contain 11 starters and 4 bench players.
  • You must start 1 goalkeeper.
  • You must start at least 3 defenders, 2 midfielders, and 1 forward.
  • You cannot start more than 5 defenders, 5 midfielders, or 3 forwards.

Captaincy

  • You must choose exactly 1 captain and 1 vice-captain.
  • Both must be in the starting XI.
  • The same player cannot be both captain and vice-captain.

Transfers and hits

  • Free transfers roll forward up to the season cap supported by the planner.
  • Extra transfers beyond your free allocation create point hits.
  • An incomplete transfer must be finished before a week can be committed.

Chips in this planner

  • Wildcard, Free Hit, Triple Captain, and Bench Boost are supported.
  • The planner tracks first-half and second-half chip sets separately.
  • Used chips stay unavailable in later committed weeks.

How validation works

The planner validates important constraints as you make changes and rechecks budget, lineup, and transfer completeness when you commit a gameweek, so you do not need a separate validate step before saving your plan.
